Music over the decades - 1930s

Hello, this counting the beat session is about music in the 1930s - 1940s.

In the 1930s Swing music was the most popular music genre. Your probably thinking what is swing music, well swing music is a form of jazz that was developed in the United States in the 1930s and 1940s. The name came from the emphasis on the off beat, or weaker pulse. Swing bands usually featured soloists who would improvise on the melody over the arrangement, here are some examples of swing music.

I had fun doing the research for this decade.

Thank you for reading my blog about swing music, any feedback would be helpful.

Counting the beat - Guitars

Hello this counting the beat session is about guitars

We have been looking at guitars and what different guitars sound like. First we have the acoustic guitar. The acoustic guitar does not need amplification and sounds fine on it's own, the electric guitar needs amplification or it just sounds like fly zooming around your room.

Glossary the bridge is a device that supports the strings on the guitar. The position marker is The white dots on the side of the fretboard help mark positions on the guitar so that the player can have a visual reference for where certain notes are on the neck. The pickguard is a plastic on the body of the guitar, the main purpose of the pickguard is to stop the pick from scratching the paint or varnish of the guitar.

Stomp music

For the past few weeks we did something called stomp for a school project, stomp is about making a beat driven jazz dance or song. Our group (Loreen, Taylor and Ivy) made a song using Strange U’s song Daisy as our melody but we changed the lyrics here, have a listen. (full credits to Strange U)

If you couldn’t hear the lyrics, here are the lyrics written down. "Baby, baby all my love is for you, I am perfect so no need love anew. Baby, baby your body now lays limp, my heart's broken so what am I supposed to do."

The lyrics were made by Taylor and Ivy.
